The SMHWC Pharmacy is staffed by qualified pharmacy professionals and provides direct pharmacy services.

The Pharmacy will dispense prescriptions generated from:

A provider at SMHWC
An emergency room health provider, if you are a SMHWC patient. Emergency room and/or urgent care visits need to be called and reported to the Referrals department at 715-793-5025
A health care provider as a result of a referred inpatient visit
Other health care providers to whom a referral had been made.

The Pharmacy operates of a Prescription and OTC formulary. If you want a non-formulary OTC item the Pharmacy can order for you to purchase.

How long does it take to fill a new prescription?

We make every effort to fill each prescription within 15 minutes of receiving the order. Please keep in mind sometimes the provider does not send the order immediately after you leave the office and we cannot process until we receive the prescription. Also our priority is patient safety and there might be times we need to consult your provider if the Pharmacist has questions or identifies concerns.

Refills

Please call in your refills 1-3 days in advance. Calling in advance will ensure your prescriptions are in stock and subsequently be ready when you arrive and prior to being out of medication.

How far in advance can I get my prescription filled?

i. If we bill your insurance the insurance plan will determine the refill date.
ii. Clinic policy allows your non controlled medications to be filled up to 7 days early.
iii. Clinic policy allows your scheduled 3-6 controlled substances to be filled up to 3 days early.
iv. Clinic policy does not allow your scheduled 2 controlled substances to be filled early.
v. If you will run out of medication over a weekend or holiday the Pharmacy will fill your prescription on the last possible day prior to weekend or holiday.

Who can pick up my medication?

i. Anyone over the age of 16 can pick up your medication for you provided they know your name and date of birth.
ii. If picking up a controlled substance, the person picking up must provide a non-expired government issued photo ID
