SMC Tribal Website Update

The tribal website has reverted back to the original domain (web address) – https://www.mohican-nsn.gov. We ask all users to please use this address when going to the tribal website and refrain from using the previously used mohican.com. Some users may have trouble loading links or pages from the tribal website as we are transitioning back to the original domain.

We understand this can be frustrating. The most effective way to prevent this issue is by clearing out the web browser “CACHE” on the device you are using. Below you will also find helpful videos on how to clear the cache on a number of different devices. You will find information on what exactly a device’s cache is, how it works and what it will do by clearing it.

How to clear cache…

What is cache?

A cache (pronounced cash, like money) is a storage location on your computer or phone where your browser keeps bits and pieces of websites—things like images, fonts, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript files.

How does cache work?

The first time you visit a website, your browser downloads everything it needs to display the page—(ex- text, images, style sheets). Some of those files are marked as “cacheable,” which tells your browser it can save them for later.

When you revisit a page/website, your browser checks the cache to see if it has display files it needs. If it does, it uses the cached files instead of downloading them again, which cuts down on loading time.

What does clearing the cache do?

Clearing the cache deletes the temporary files stored by your browser. It’s a common fix when a website starts acting up because it forces your browser to download the most up-to-date version of a site’s assets the next time you visit.

If you don’t clear the cache when a website is glitching, you might continue to experience frustrating things like broken layouts, missing features, or buttons that ignore you no matter how many times you speed-click them in a quiet rage.
