William C. Arndt was born to William and Delia Jones Arndt. He had a brother named Clyde and a sister named June. William was raised by his grandparents in Neillsville, Wisconsin after his mother passed away.
As a child William enjoyed riding horses and doing farm work. He liked school and attended for eight years.
He met his wife at a dance hall. She liked to dance and he liked to watch. He never did learn how to dance. William was in the military for four years. He drove wreckers in China, Burma, and India. While in the war he married his wife.
William and his wife have two sons; Duane Charles and Garry Louis. They have 5 grandchildren; Travis, Anna, Brandon, Megan, and David-Douglas. When his son’s were younger William enjoyed fishing and hunting with them. He also enjoyed taking them to ball games.
William had several jobs throughout his life. Finally he got the opportunity to drive a semi, he was a trucker for 17 years. He liked to travel. When asked where his favorite trip was he said," Every trip I made with trucks was my favorite." He is now retired. He has an aluminum can route. He picks up cans every week. When asked what he enjoys to do William stated," I like to go for coffee with the guys."
William has some advice for the youth. His advice is," Get an education. Don’t smoke cigarettes and don’t use dope.
