On Wednesday, February 20, 2008, the Stockbridge-Munsee Tribal Council held an Emergency Tribal Council Meeting and at that time the following motions were made and carried:
Pursuant to Chapter 50, the Procedures Ordinance, under 50.11 Emergency Council Meetings, section D, the President has determined that a Community Emergency requires immediate attention, therefore waiving the twenty-four hour emergency posting notice, for the purposes of discussing with the Council an incident that occurred at the new casino project today.
APPROVAL OF AGENDA-
Motion by Scott R. Vele to approve the agenda for the Emergency Tribal Council Meeting on Wednesday, February 20, 2008, as presented by the President. Seconded by Terrie K. Terrio. Motion carried.
EXECUTIVE SESSION-
Motion by Scott R. Vele to go into Executive Session. Seconded by Terrie K. Terrio. Motion carried at 5:02 PM.
Motion by Scott R. Vele to come out of Executive Session. Seconded by Shannon Holsey. Motion carried at 6:28 PM.
While in Executive Session the Tribal Council met with the Construction Team for the new casino.
Statement: An incident occurred at the construction site for the new Mohican North Star Casino and Bingo facility today. There was a limited impact on the construction and one worker received minor injuries. The area where the incident occurred was shut down pending investigation. There are numerous parties investigating the incident currently and construction in that area will not resume until it is verified as being completely safe. Work will resume in unaffected areas tomorrow. Customer and employee safety is our first concern and the welfare of our customers and employees will continue to be our top priority.
